What is Streemlion?
Streemlion is an Internet radio hosting service designed for affordability and reliability.
We make it easy for anyone — from hobbyists to professional broadcasters — to legally start, manage, and grow their own online radio station with ease and confidence.

Do users really have license coverage?
Yes! When you operate under Streemlion, you’re fully covered by our SOCAN licence.
We handle the royalty reporting and payments on your behalf, ensuring that music creators and publishers are properly and fairly compensated — so you can focus on running your station with peace of mind.

Which Locations does the SOCAN license cover?
Our SOCAN licence covers all Canadian territories.
Please, note that additional licensing may be required if you broadcast or target listeners in other countries, depending on the laws of those regions. We’re continuously exploring opportunities to expand our licensing coverage to more locations in the future.

Since SOCAN is Canadian does it mean my radio will be Canadian too?
Yes — your station is considered Canadian because all Streemlion streams are licensed and operated under a Canadian service.
When listing your station on directories or adding details to your website, please identify your station as Canadian-based- ensuring full compliance with SOCAN’s licensing framework.

Do you have materials that help identify that my station is SOCAN-covered?
Yes! We provide a “SOCAN Licensed to Play” web banner as well as a radio drop you can schedule into your playlist.
Download them HERE. We recommend displaying the banner on your website and airing the drop regularly on your Streemlion station — this helps to clearly identify your station as SOCAN-licensed and helps potential rights-owner to know you're legit.

Does my SOCAN licence impose any restrictions?

Yes — no licence grants absolute rights. The following restrictions apply:

  1. Advertising: The licence does not cover the use of paid ads or commercials on your stream unless you are on our GrandLion or ULTRA plans.

  2. Stream source: Coverage applies only to music broadcast directly from our platform (AutoDJ or Live Stream). Relaying third-party streams through our system is not covered.

  3. Music use: The SOCAN licence does not permit illegal music sharing or on-demand music access/activity.

What about Music Use?

Thanks to SOCAN’s reciprocal agreements with international music rights organizations, Streemlion licence holders can legally stream and publicly play music from artists around the world — not just works by SOCAN members.
In other words, your licence gives you access to global catalogue of copyrighted music, providing peace of mind for your broadcasts.

Feel free to play music legally acquired or given to you by their right owners.
